We are thrilled to support all families for the 2021-2022 school year in reclaiming a sense of normalcy filled with hope and high spirits. Boys and Girls Clubs of San Leandro has had an outstanding 15-year partnership with SLUSD and SLZUSD providing the highest quality Expanded learning program in San Leandro and San Lorenzo. In fact, we were the first to provide on-site virtual/in person programing since September of 2020.
As you all are aware safety is the number one priority in everything we do. With that we want to inform you that the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Leandro ASES (After School Education and Safety) Expanded Learning programs will have limited available space as we begin our site-specific programs August 18th, 2021, due to an unprecedented staff shortage. We share your frustration in this, but please know that we will do everything in our power to provide Expanded Learning services for your students as swiftly as possible. We have been actively working with the school districts to find solutions and will continue to work in partnership with our school site administrators.
If your child has been placed on your ASES-school site waitlist their spot will be secured. Notifications will be communicated by your Program Director to all registered families regarding available start dates on a student-by-student basis.
Our KinderCare programs have also been placed on pause, except for Washington Elementary, due to staffing shortages.
We sincerely appreciate your patience as vigilant work is being done your behalf to staff up quickly. Please visit our program tabs for more information and Program contact information.

What does that mean for you and your student?
If you have registered your student, your Program Director will be contacting you directly regarding their status. IF your student is waitlisted it means, although registered for the program, your students must be picked up immediately after school from their day teacher school end until notified otherwise.
When will the Program start / when can my child be taken off the waitlist?
The actual start date is tentative and staggered based on staffing. The goal is to have a staff member available within the next couple of weeks or sooner. All currently registered families who have been waitlisted will be prioritized.
But I’ve already paid… What about a refund?
We will not give parents a refund unless they desire to remove their student from the program completely. As of now, all students are registered and able to start pending a staff member. Parents will not be charged any additional fees during the time prior to program tentative start date.
I have not registered my child, but would like to… Next Steps?
New registrations are currently paused. Re-opening is tentative based on staffing; however, program will be expanded to full capacity during the Fall semester.

THE BGCSL PLAN
A renovated building achieves two goals: helping all youth reach their potential and meeting key community needs through partnerships and an organic use of space, allowing for flexibility and responsiveness to address issues.
Without the help of our partners and supporters like you, the programs and services that we give our kids would not be possible. We rely on the financial support of the community to keep over 1200 kids engaged in safe, impactful, programs every day.
